What is NMN?

NMN, known as Nicotinamide MonoNucleotide, is a vital component for all life. These essential molecules are involved in most of our cells, supporting all forms of reactions.

At the molecular level, it is a ribo-nucleotide, which is a basic structural unit of the nucleic acid RNA. NMN is the direct precursor of the essential molecule nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and is considered a key component to increase NAD+ levels in cells.

NAD+ is involved in fundamental biological processes, including metabolism, cell signaling, gene expression, DNA repair, and more. NAD+ is the most abundant molecule in the body besides water, and without it, an organism would die.

So why not just take NAD+ instead of NMN? NAD+ breaks down pretty fast in the high acid content of the stomach, whereas NMN does not, and gets absorbed well through the gastrointestinal tract.

As anything grows older, it accrues DNA damage due to environmental factors such as radiation, pollution, infections and imprecise DNA replication. According to the current aging theory, the accumulation of DNA damage is the main cause of aging. Almost all cells contain the ‘molecular machinery’ to repair this damage. This machinery consumes NAD+ and other energy molecules. Therefore, excessive DNA damage can drain valuable cellular resources.

NAD is also vital for energy production as it helps mitochondrial DNA. This energy production is seen in the brain, immune cells, muscle tissue, and generally throughout the whole system.

Since the discovery of NAD+ in 1906, the molecule has been on scientists’ radar for its abundance in the body, and its crucial role in molecular pathways that keep our body running. In animal studies, raising NAD+ levels in the body has shown promising results in research fields like metabolic and age-related diseases along with anti-aging properties.

Diminished levels of NAD+ create several challenges at the cellular level.

NMN is one of the MOST, if not the most important anti-aging molecules discovered to date as it affects every cell in the body! With uüth™, we get an easy to use, delicious product providing this amazing molecule!
